I saw a recently aired episode of the Larry King show on CNN.com today which was about UFOs and ETs, the government’s knowledge of them, and how the government has been covering up information about their interactions/run-ins with them for 40+ years (duh)… and I thought the whole thing was pretty startling. I mean, this isn’t some crackpot wacko, or some low-budget show on the SciFi channel… this is fucking CNN and Larry King.
Whoa.
I wholeheartedly believe that the notion of life NOT existing in a myriad of locations in the universe is incredibly ludicrous to the point of being a flat-out (no pun) “the world is flat” mentality. I mean, how effing ridiculous to believe that we’re the only planet in all of existence that has life on it.
I blame the irresponsible and insidious manipulation of religion by the people who invented it and continue to sculpt it, and also the blind retardation of the followers of those religions who adopt a set of instructions that are clearly (based on history and current experience) not the solution to the object that they’re trying to construct; namely: their life.
Life at this point is in need of much practice and consideration on the part of its participants, and a horrifyingly small number of the participants seem to be doing so.
You might be thinking “Whoa!! That religion thing just totally came out of left field!! He was talking about Larry King and ETs and then BAM!, anti-religion hate-speech!!”, but it’s totally related. And it’s not hate-speech, it’s an honest, thoughtful assessment of the conditions of the world and what their root cause is. If you think about it, really open-mindedly, religion is pretty much responsible for all of the destructive beliefs that mankind holds, and it’s from false beliefs that all the atrocities in the world are carried out and justified. The idea that we’re alone in the Universe, that we’re separate from each other, God and everything else, and that “God” put us here to dominate all of life on the planet and basically make a mess of the place stems from false beliefs (or misinterpretations) of what existence is (a test), where we all came from (Adam and Eve), and why we’re here (to play some sick game with a jealous God where we go to hell or are somehow punished if we succumb to the temptations of the insane-asylum that “he’s” allowed us to be subjected to by the defective renegade angel that he created who decided to become Satan… What?! What an asshole god! Clearly a God of Love). How does no one see that this absolutely implies that God is somehow incomplete and vulnerable because “he” (I also love that God supposedly has a gender) NEEDS our love, devotion, blind-faith, fear (as in “God-fearing Christian.” Yeah, because that’s a virtue and what we all want our loved ones to feel towards us) and unwavering obedience to what everyone else tells us that God wants from us. Oh! AND god needs us to have the ability to magically decipher this big fucking riddle so that we’re not lead astray and follow the wrong set of instructions!! Heaven forbid!! Literally!!!!
“Ok fine, I can buy that, but what the hell does this have to do with Larry King and the ETs?!” Welp, I can’t think of many things that would do more to loosen the choke hold that religious insanity has on the world’s paradigm than ETs landing and making their presence widely known. I mean, a lot of religious people would probably say that the ETs were Satan, but ultimately, that would blow apart so much of what the Bible has been manipulated to say about life and existence and our role/place in the Universe (one only needs to do a tiny bit of research to discover that the bible’s contents have been grossly abridged and manipulated to serve a lot of icky agendas throughout history - it ain’t in its original form folks… and that’s not even taking into consideration that it’s a translation from an archaic and arcane language).
I hope it’s clear that I AM NOT just writing this to slam religious people for the sake of self-elevation or smug self-satisfaction. It’s my intention to encourage people to think about things in life from an angle they might not have seen them from before.
“Shut up and show some neat videos or pictures or facts or something.” Ok. :)
Something to ponder (and I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t even come close to fully comprehending the implications of this):
Light travels at a rate of 186,282.397 miles PER SECOND.
A light-year is the distance that light travels in a year.
Light travels 5,878,499,817,231.622 Miles in a year (just to be clear: that’s 5-trillion, 878-billion, 499-million, 817-thousand, 231.622 miles).
Guess how many light-years across the universe is? K’mon… guess.

The universe is AT LEAST (as in “it’s quite possibly bigger”) 156,000,000,000 light-years across (that’s 156-billion).
So… now, let’s multiply 5,878,499,817,231.622 (distance in miles that light travels in a year) by 156,000,000,000 (minimum estimate of the breadth of the universe in light-years)…
This is where your head explodes and you get blood and brain chunks all over your calculator.
I tried to plug that equation into my scientific calculator and it flipped me off. Just kidding, but it did spit out a number that I have no idea how to read: 9.1704597148813e+23
Yeah… so in a universe that’s unfathomably beyond-huge… of course we’re the only life in it!! OF COURSE!!! It’s so… so simple!! Hallelujah!

Here’s an interesting video that can at least begin to help put some sort of context to the whole scale thing:

One more comment about religion… I think it’s endlessly amusing (in a really un-amusing sort-of-way) that the very people who claim to love and exalt God (yup, religious people) reduce life and existence (God’s creations) and God itself to such a pathetically small, uninteresting, limited, one-dimensional, bland, dull, half-dead chunk of cow crap. Nope… not infinite amazement existing in multiple dimensions… just one planet, floating in a sea of nothingness, with a hand full of critters and humans on it. That’s all god’s capable of. Well, yeah… a god of such limited scope like that would only be capable of creating about that much. ;D
