Hello, my name is Ryan. :)

When asked “what do you do,” most people answer with their job title, or a few tasks that they perform, but that sooOoOoo doesn’t even begin to explain what anyone is actually doing in their life. Oh the limitations of spoken and written language!

So instead of listing the vehicles that I employ in my pursuit of a purposeful life, I’d like to instead describe what I strive to do with my time here: I create “stuff” in order to share my experiences and perspective with others, in hopes that something expressed as a byproduct of my being here will resonate with them in a way that expands and enriches their experiences. At this point in our evolution, being human is a process of peeling away the layers of illusion that we’re wrapped in like puff-pastries, and my life is devoted to dismantling myself, and hopefully a lot of the world around me in the process. That’s one of the interesting paradoxes in life: the more you strip away, the more you become.

Here’s a great quote: “If we believe absurdities, we shall commit atrocities.” - Voltaire

Based on results, most of the world believes absurdities. I believe that it is our responsibility as responsible human beings to question our beliefs, and let go of the ones that are absurd, outdated and destructive, and to actively seek life-supporting and expanding alternatives.

Since lists do serve a limited function, and it happens to be one that will be useful in this context, here’s a list of a few of the vehicles that I employ in my self-expression:

- Songwriting
- Live-Performance
- Graphic Design
- Writing
- Photography

See? SEE?!?! The list is so constrictive and limited in its scope. :P

So yeah, this blog is a place for me to present my music, my designs, my photography, my thoughts, and whatever else is relevant to the whole “Ryan” thing, and hopefully you’ll enjoy what’s being offered and even dialogue with me about it. :o
